Paul W. Zima leads the RGNext Eastern Range Operations team in all the areas of planning, scheduling, and executing the Eastern Launch and Test Range operations to include launches, pre-launch events, test and evaluation, and off-range support activities. He is directly responsible for receiving, evaluating, responding to, and producing range tasking documentation that details all range systems and support activities required to perform launch operations for an ever increasing launch manifest that in year 2016 totaled 24 separate launches from the Eastern Range to include the Atlas V, Delta IV, Falcon 9, Trident II, and Pegasus launch vehicles.
Previous to his present position, Paul served in the United States Air Force retiring in the grade of Chief Master Sergeant assigned as Command Chief Master Sergeant, 45th Space Wing where he advised the Wing Commander on matters concerning the morale, welfare, effective use, training, recognition and progress of enlisted members for the wing, 12 tenant units and operating sites at Patrick AFB, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Antigua Air Force Station, and Ascension Island.
In other military assignments he was the Chief, Technical Support Division, Classified Headquarters Unit wherein he lead the Air Force’s only worldwide intelligence human resources collection division providing program guidance/project oversight to over 265 overt and controlled intelligence personnel at 50 worldwide locations. His duty assignments included; Andersen Air Force Base, Guam; Plattsburgh Air Force Base, New York; Sembach Air Base, Germany; Homestead Air Force Base, Florida; and, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He has served on temporary duty assignments in South Korea, Okinawa, Australia, Panama, Italy, the former West Germany, to include East and West Berlin and several data masked locations throughout the world. Throughout these assignments Chief Zima provided specialized intelligence analysis, targeting and tactical training to headquarters personnel and aircrews flying the B-52, KC-135, U-2/TR-1, SR-71, FB-111, EC-130H, F-16 and the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
Paul has been married for over 25 years to Master Sergeant (ret) Paula J. Zima and they have three children; Jessica, Alexander, and Andrew.
